Bringing the good attic to you… a journey!

Namaskar and Greetings!

I am Sonali.

It gives me immeasurable pleasure to bring an idea of a good life – the good attic – to you.

My journey, one that led to the creation of the good attic, began in the heartland of India, in the serene setting of Khurai, in Madhya Pradesh.

Khurai, surrounded by fertile fields of ‘Sharbati’ wheat and embraced by the echoes of the 1857 mutiny, is a place where the home architecture tells stories of bygone eras.

Here, amidst fields that whispered the secrets of the seasons and traditions as timeless as the land itself, I learned the art of authentic living. It’s a place where the nature’s pace governs life; a place where our rich cultural heritage is still cherished and reminds us to live an authentic life.

Khurai is a cute little town in the vicinity of places well-known for popular Indian crafts such as Chanderi silk, Maheshwari silk, Dhokra metal, Gond painting, Bagh prints, Nandana prints, and many more. It is here, influenced by these many centuries-old artforms, I learned to appreciate the marvels of handcrafted artistry, and embraced the art of living aesthetically.

Growing up here, I imbibed the values of natural living and sustainability. Our life was simple with modest means of living, yet creativity bloomed in every corner. This instilled a deep love for the land and the Indian way of living sustainably, echoing through our cuisine, couture, craft, and culture.

Ah! the nostalgic memories…

These memories inspired me to conceptualise the good attic, a thought rooted in authentic, aesthetic, and sustainable living in complete harmony with nature. It’s a space where practicality dances with beauty, where each creation is a piece of artistry, and where our rich cultural heritage finds a modern expression.

The early life motivated me to pursue architecture to develop a unique perspective, allowing me to blend tradition with innovation, culture with creativity, and modernisation with sustainability.

Today, the good attic stands as a testament to these values; it is a beautiful gateway to nostalgia. I invite you to experience the world of blissful authentic living, where aesthetics, artisanship, and sustainability harmonize with the rhythm of the natural world.

I look forward to seeing you around and hearing your stories of nostalgia.

With gratitude and warmth,
