Why are we ‘the good attic’?

Remember when we were little kids, there was one place in everyone’s homes which customarily housed a large wooden or iron chest?

Yes, the attic!

The attic housed this chest (typically called sandook, trunk, or peti in Hindi) which was always kept locked. It was treated as if it held a secret treasure within.

The chest would normally be opened only on a few occasions – either on a festival or when the elders wanted to take a trip to nostalgia-land!

Opening of these treasure chests was usually the prerogative of a grandparent. The keys were out of bounds of even the parents-class. So, it goes without saying that these chests were objects of intense curiosity for the children. We would gather around it to peep inside whenever the opportunity presented itself.

And whenever the chest was opened, magically, it would bring out wonderful handmade articles, intricately handcrafted clothing, and innovative functional artefacts.

It would make everyone hugely sentimental!

So, when the time came for our team to name our venture that also creates beautiful handmade products having functional and aesthetic appeal, Aparna had the eureka moment, “why not call it the good attic? After all, the attic was the source of all such amazing items and innovative artifacts which captivated everyone by their sheer beauty, functional utility, and aesthetic appeal; the good attic routinely took us down the memory lane.”

And thus, the good attic was born.
